Clan Strachan Society, for the benefit of the Clan Strachan Charitable Trust, is fundraising to acquire the Lands of Eslie, in the Parish of Strachan in Scotland.

The property is 102.31 acres (41.29 hectares) of agricultural land, and has access directly off the public road.

Of profound importance, the property includes Eslie the Greater Stone Circle. A beautiful recumbent stone circle with the recumbent stone and two flankers still in place along with five other circle stones still standing. A fallen stone lies by the ring and three (or four) of the original eight (or nine) circle stones are no longer standing. The recumbent stone is nearly 3 metres long and the standing stones are between 0.8 and 1.5m tall. The whole circle is about 24m in diameter. Within the stone circle is a (very much robbed) ring cairn about 18m in diameter and with a clear court area in the centre about 6m in diameter. This was dug into in 1873 and a cist (an ancient and historic burial chamber) with some charcoal and bone fragments was discovered.

Should the acquisition prove successful, the Clan would like to preserve and protect the historical remains of the site. The Clan would like to create public parking and a path to the Stone Circle so the Clan and community can learn and appreciate its local heritage and history. Additionally. the opportunity to lease the residual acreage to local farmers to generate revenue for the non-profit charitable trust to fund future charitable purposes would be a bonus. If not able to acquire the land, all funds donated will be reallocated to the Trust's Property Fund to be used towards future real property purposes.
